Senator Blumenthal Statement on USAF Decision to Award Refueling Tanker Contract to Boeing

(Hartford, CT) – Following the U.S. Air Force’s announcement today awarding a multibillion dollar contract for 179 new refueling planes to Boeing, Senator Richard Blumenthal released the following statement:

“I am thrilled with the Air Force’s decision to award the contract for the refueling tankers to Boeing, which shows our military’s serious commitment to prioritizing American jobs and American manufacturing. Under this contract, Pratt & Whitney will build two engines for each plane, creating jobs and bringing economic growth to Connecticut. Our military needs these aircraft, and I know Pratt & Whitney will meet this challenge and continue their proud tradition of serving our armed forces.”
