Senator Blumenthal Speaks Out on Budget Battle

(Washington, DC) – Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) spoke today on the budget battle occurring in Washington and on the impending government shutdown. A link to audio of Blumenthal’s remarks is below.

“People in Connecticut ought to be angry that a minority in the House of Representatives are holding this budget hostage in this ideological war on women’s health,” said Blumenthal. “We want more jobs and economic growth and these conditions on the budget, so called riders, have nothing to do with creating jobs or economic growth in fact they will inhibit and stop job creation and economic recovery if they lead to a shut down. What we need now is for a compromise to occur so we can avoid shutting down the government which will be devastating for our still recovering economy and will be damaging to job growth and recent fragile economic gains.”
