Senator Blumenthal Named to Armed Services Subcommittees
(Washington, DC) – The Senate Armed Service Committee announced today that Senator Richard Blumenthal has been named to three Armed Services subcommittees: the Subcommittee on Personnel, Subcommittee on Seapower and the Subcommittee on AirLand. The subcommittees cover a variety of issues that affect the members of the Armed Forces and oversee a portion of every division of the United States Military.
The Subcommittee on Personnel is vital to protecting and representing the interests of all members of the Armed Forces and their families. The subcommittee is responsible for the health care and benefits that are provided to members of the military and their families and oversees programs including child care, family assistance, and retirement assistance.
The Subcommittee on Seapower is responsible for all Navy, Marine Corps, and special lift programs and oversees all maritime issues and procurements for these branches of the military.
The Subcommittee on AirLand oversees Army and Air Force programs and the tactical aviation programs of the Navy and Marine Corps. In addition, the subcommittee is responsible for National Guard and Reserve equipment and research and development programs in both the Army and the Air Force.
