Senator Blumenthal Applauds DHS Decision to Grant Mariano Cardoso Stay of Removal

(Hartford, CT) – Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement this afternoon on the Department of Homeland Security’s announcement that they will grant Mariano Cardoso, a 22-year-old student from New Britain facing deportation, a temporary stay of removal:

“This decision is right for Mariano – and right for America – in light of his roots in the community and his future contributions to our society. I am thrilled with the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to grant Mariano Cardoso a stay of removal, renewable each year, so that he can remain in the only country he has ever known. Mariano is a promising young man with a bright future, and DHS’ swift action on this issue ensures that he will be able to continue contributing to his community.
