"BRIDGEPORT -- The long-awaited Steelpointe Harbor project in the city's lower East Side would be but another dashed hope for Bridgeport if a measure passed by Congress last week becomes law, officials said Tuesday morning.
U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., and Sen. Richard Blumenthal, in a meeting with Mayor Bill Finch, said that the loss of a promised $11 million "Tiger II" Department of Transportation grant would all but eliminate the long-awaited Steelpointe effort, and with it the more than 1,000 permanent jobs that it would create."
