[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – In case you missed it, parents, young people, and groups supporting the Kids Online Safety Act, a bipartisan bill led by U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), advocated for the bill’s swift passage on Capitol Hill this week amid the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing with Big Tech CEOs.
Rally to Protect Kids Online
Senators Blumenthal and Blackburn joined a rally organized by youth activists, parents, and advocates outside the U.S. Capitol following the Senate Judiciary hearing with Big Tech CEOs on the industry’s failure to protect young people from the online harms of social media platforms. The rally’s hosts, Accountable Tech and Design It For Us, were joined by the advocacy groups Fairplay, ParentsTogether Action, Tech Oversight Project, and others to urge lawmakers to enact meaningful reforms for the future of kids’ online safety, including the Kids Online Safety Act. Kids Online Safety Act Advocacy Day Kickoff

ParentsSOS Initiative
Fairplay and The David’s Legacy Foundation launched the Parents for Safe Online Spaces, or ParentsSOS. This educational initiative, created by families who have lost children to the harmful impacts of Big Tech, advocates for the enactment of social media safeguards for children by raising awareness and garnering support for the Kids Online Safety Act.
