"What an exciting vision, nine stories high at 300 George St. — not just of New Haven, but of the future, provided by Mayor John DeStefano Jr. and local officials in an extraordinary partnership with Yale University’s School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Hospital. The vision is improving the city’s medical district, to create jobs and advance bioscience and medical research.

It is one example of exciting reasons for hope and optimism I encountered on my recent two-week listening tour. Yet, the harsh reality is that too many are out of work, too many veterans are homeless as well and too many businesses on Main Streets are struggling."
