(Washington, DC) – Today, the Connecticut Delegation issued a statement regarding news that President Obama issued a major disaster declaration for the State of Connecticut, triggering the release of federal funds to help communities recover from February’s winter storm.
“We are pleased that all eight counties and the Tribal Nations affected by February’s winter storm will receive the funds we requested to help them rebuild and recover. The President rightfully declared a major disaster in the aftermath of the storm. These critical funds will help these communities recoup the extraordinary costs associated with this latest storm – the fifth major storm to hit our state within the last few years. We are disappointed that not all counties are covered for 72 hours of reimbursement. We will continue to advocate on their behalf. ”
After the February storm, the Connecticut Delegation sent a letter to President Obama requesting these funds. A copy of the letter can be found here.
