Blumenthal will continue serving as a member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Judiciary; Armed Services; and Veterans Committees
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) announced today that he will become the Chair of the newly renamed Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, and Data Security after previously serving as its Ranking Member. Blumenthal will continue to serve as a member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Judiciary; Armed Services; and Veterans Committees:
“Consumers need vigorous voices and champions now more than ever. The pandemic has posed dangerous new threats of consumer abuse—scams and con artists preying on fears and hopes. Consumers are increasingly vulnerable to Big Tech’s egregious exploitation of user data. Countless other protections such as college athletes’ rights need enhanced safeguards. I am honored to serve as Chair of the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and continue fighting—as I have in the past—to protect Americans from fraud and abuse.”
