Blumenthal Statement on Trump Firing Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Linda Fagan

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement in response to reports that President Trump has fired the Commandant of the Coast Guard, Admiral Linda Fagan, after more than forty years of service:

“Admiral Fagan is a dedicated public servant who has devoted her career to our national security. I have been critical of Admiral Fagan concerning the Coast Guard’s response to problems of sexual assault and harassment in the aftermath of a coverup executed by Admiral Fagan’s Trump appointed predecessor, but this abrupt firing raises concerns about how Donald Trump intends to treat professional, dedicated military men and women who have faithfully served our country for decades.”
