Blumenthal Statement on the Supreme Court's Decision Overturning Chevron Deference & Curbing Federal Regulatory Authority

[WASHINGTON, DC] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement today after the Supreme Court struck down Chevron U.S.A. v. Natural Resources Defense Council:

“By striking down Chevron, the Supreme Court has eroded the separation of powers, turning an unaccountable judiciary into policymakers and concentrating power in the hands of right-wing judges. For decades, career experts at our federal agencies have relied on this precedent to implement the laws passed by Congress. Today, the Court rewards big corporations and the wealthy—prioritizing corporate greed over the health, safety, and welfare of the American people and putting our ability to protect workers, consumers, and the environment at risk.”
