Blumenthal Statement on the Nomination of Scott Pruitt to Lead EPA

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal expressed serious concern regarding President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee, Scott Pruitt, to serve as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.

“Scott Pruitt’s entire career has been antithetical to the mission of the Environmental Protection Agency. As the legal architect of the battle against President Obama’s clean power plan, he has worked hand-in-hand with the biggest polluters in our country to erode regulations that are vital to the health of our planet,” Blumenthal said. “His nomination is ominous and alarming and I have significant concerns about the signal it sends regarding the Trump Administration’s position on environmental policy.”
