[WASHINGTON, DC] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement on the bipartisan infrastructure deal:
“By itself, this deal is inadequate. It’s only a first step that must be followed by a bigger, bolder package with more investment in human as well as physical infrastructure. We must meet this historic moment of opportunity and challenge. The framework of this deal is regrettably insufficient on climate change and utterly lacking in investment in childcare, homecare, education and skill training, and so much more. The priorities envisioned by President Biden and championed by many of us in Congress aren't a “wish list,” they are a requirement if we want to live in a country where bridges don't collapse on top of highways and every family has access to healthcare and education. I look forward to working with my colleagues and the administration to make that country a reality.”
