(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) today made the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling today in favor of terror victims, deciding that Congress had not exceeded its authority when it passed a law securing restitution for the victims from the central bank of Iran.
“Today, the Supreme Court recognized Congress’s power to hold terrorists accountable and provide compensation for their victims. The Court’s ruling should give renewed impetus and energy to Congressional efforts to fight terrorism and help terror victims. This is about simple, humanitarian justice."
