(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s unanimous approval of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015:
“I am pleased that the legislation that I co-sponsored has been adopted unanimously – an affirmation by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that the bill avoids any interference or impeding impact on ongoing negotiations to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran. I hope and believe that these negotiations can be successful, and offer the best prospect of achieving our common goal in stopping nuclear proliferation. The ongoing diplomacy is consistent with Congressional review, which is required for lifting the sanctions if a final agreement is reached. I appreciate the President’s recognition of the proper role of Congress in providing review.”
