Blumenthal Statement on Senator Dianne Feinstein's Leadership on the Senate Judiciary Committee

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement after U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) announced she will not seek the position of chairman or ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee in the next Congress:

“I am grateful for Senator Feinstein’s courageous leadership on our committee and her unwavering commitment to reproductive rights, gun violence prevention, immigration reform, and expanding resources for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Her efforts to fight for strong, serious gun violence prevention – including the passage of an assault weapons ban – are deeply meaningful to me and to the families of gun violence survivors in Connecticut. Over the last four years, she has been a steadfast and strong voice for the rule of law against an administration that continually jeopardized it. I look forward to continuing our work together rebuilding institutions of justice and fighting for equal rights under the law.”
