Blumenthal Statement on Senate Republicans’ Reintroduction of Anti-Woman Legislation

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), issued the following statement after Senate Republicans’ reintroduced the extreme, unconstitutional ban on abortion at 20 weeks:

“This proposal is an unconstitutional distraction-- threatening women's health care and privacy rights, and diverting attention and time from the nation's real needs. Instead of focusing on this deservedly doomed but dangerous retread, Congress should act to create jobs, promote economic growth, aid our veterans, rebuild our infrastructure, and other pressing challenges. To protect precious constitutional rights, and preserve time and energy, Congress should consign this proposal to legislative outer orbit.”
