[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) issued the following statement following Senate approval of the Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act. As a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, Blumenthal has long worked to strengthen accountability at the VA.
“I supported this bipartisan VA accountability bill to drive reforms at the VA. I sought to strengthen the legislation by offering amendments in committee to better guard against poor management. Moving forward on this accountability bill is absolutely necessary to deliver quality health care and timely veterans benefits. This bill will help Secretary Shulkin ensure veterans receive the care they need and deserve, but there’s still a long way to go,” said Blumenthal.
