(Washington, DC) - Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement on the confirmation of Christopher Hart to be chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Bella Dinh-Zarr to be a board member of the agency: “I am pleased to join my Senate colleagues today in confirming Christopher Hart as chairman and Bella Dinh-Zarr as member of this important agency. It is imperative that we have a strong team at the helm at NTSB to investigate major transportation accidents and ensure that we are taking the right steps to prevent future incidents. These positions were left unfilled for far too long. The NTSB is critical – especially in our region, where the agency has worked hard to make sure recent accidents like those seen on Metro-North are not repeated. I look forward to working with Mr. Hart and Dr. Dinh-Zarr to advance safety reforms at Metro-North and elsewhere throughout our transportation system.” |
