(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement on the Senate’s 56-43 vote confirming Loretta Lynch as the next U.S. Attorney General:
“After disgraceful, deplorable delay, Loretta Lynch's approval today gives the nation a top law enforcement officer of superb intellect and integrity. She is not only the nation's first female African American to serve as U.S. Attorney General, but a truly distinguished public servant and legal advocate whose life’s work has been fighting for the American people. As the nation's chief enforcer and protector of people's legal rights and obligations, she will be a courageous and strong leader. Having come to know her personally, I deeply admire her extraordinary record of accomplishment and public service. She will be an historic mentor and model for others.”
