Blumenthal Statement on SBA IG Report on the Paycheck Protection Program

[WASHINGTON, DC] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the statement below in response to the results of a Small Business Administration (SBA) Inspector General investigation he requested in April. The report, released this afternoon, found significant problems with SBA’s administration of the Paycheck Protection Program.

“The results of this investigation reaffirm Congressional intent and vindicate the thousands of small business owners left out in the cold by SBA’s mismanagement of the Paycheck Protection Program. Congress clearly intended to support small business owners - the mom and pop stores that line main streets across the country and power our economy. Now SBA and the Trump Administration must act on this report’s findings and ensure the Paycheck Protection Program functions the way it was meant to,” Blumenthal said.

“For the record, this is why inspectors general matter.”
