(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement after Senate Republicans blocked comprehensive legislation to expand health care, education, job-training and other programs for veterans:
“The veteran bill’s failure is deeply disappointing – indeed an outrage – but I’m committed to continuing the fight, and bringing back this historic measure. Partisan politics should have no place in keeping faith with Americans who have served and sacrificed for our nation. A majority of senators – like an overwhelming majority of Americans – support this measure. This bill was a big and broad measure because the needs of our veterans are urgent and diverse. I will seek to reverse this unconscionable defeat as soon as possible.”
