(Hartford, CT) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement in response to the release of internal General Motors documents related to the ongoing investigation into the automaker’s recent recall of millions of cars that may have faulty ignition switches:
“These documents continue to raise very serious questions – which GM and CEO Mary Barra must address immediately – about whether she knew more, and earlier, about disabling defects in GM cars than she has acknowledged. GM must correct the public record, including Ms. Barra's testimony before Congress, if necessary. Such evidence indicates a line of inquiry that investigators must pursue vigorously as soon as possible.”
