Blumenthal Statement on PTSD Awareness Day

(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement on PTSD Awareness Day, a day intended to raise awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder:

“Too many of our men and women in uniform are returning home with wounds of war – post-traumatic stress and other post-deployment mental health problems that make returning to regular routines difficult. On this and every day, we must commit ourselves to raising awareness about post-traumatic stress and eradicating the stigma that surrounds it so the men and women who have honorably served our country get the care they need and deserve. Breaking down barriers that prevent those with post-traumatic stress from getting the help they need will ensure that fewer warriors suffer in silence.”
