(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) released the following statement in response to reports about President Obama’s proposal to end the National Security Administration’s telephone data collection program:
“This worthwhile step is workable and welcome, but more measures are necessary for real reform. Collection of broad swaths of telephone data will still be possible with court approval. Reform of the FISA court process is all the more urgent. Protecting rights of privacy and other key liberties requires a constitutional advocate.”
