Blumenthal Statement on President Obama's Nomination Of James Comey To Head The FBI

(Hartford, CT) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement after President Obama nominated former U.S. Deputy Attorney General James Comey to head the FBI:

“Jim Comey demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the rule of law by standing up and speaking out at a time of great challenge to justice. He knows prosecuting and investigating from long and successful firsthand experience and he will bring high standards to the FBI. I applaud President Obama for making a bipartisan selection – putting partisan politics aside to seek the best person for the job – and I hope the Senate will give Mr. Comey’s nomination prompt consideration.”
