Blumenthal Statement on President-Elect Biden's Announcement of Key Foreign Policy and National Security Nominees and Appointments

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement after President-elect Joe Biden’s announced key members of his foreign policy and national security team including Antony Blinken, Secretary of State; Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security; Avril Haines, Director of National Intelligence; Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations; Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor; and John Kerry, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate.

“Every one of these nominees is a star. Each is extremely well-qualified, deeply respected, and crisis-tested. All have received strong, bipartisan Senate support for past positions. Each nominee is a leader, and together they are a powerful team. This team reflects diversity in a field, national security, which has traditionally lacked it. Americans can be proud of these eminently qualified leaders on the world stage.”
