Blumenthal Statement on Planned Parenthood Ceasing Accepting Reimbursements for Costs Associated with Fetal Tissue Research

(Hartford, CT) - U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) released the following statement today after Planned Parenthood announced that it will no longer accept reimbursements for costs associated with procuring fetal tissue for medical research:

“Despite five baseless, politically-motivated Congressional investigations into Planned Parenthood, the organization has been completely transparent and demonstrated that its policies have always gone above and beyond what the law requires. Now they are going even further and taking the reimbursement issue off the table completely. I am pleased that Planned Parenthood has taken this additional step, removing a distraction, and, in the process, returning focus to the high-quality health care they deliver to millions of Americans.”
