(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement on the passing of U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.):
“Frank Lautenberg was one of a kind – a son of immigrants who truly embodied the American Dream, a WWII veteran who should be remembered for his courageous service to our country. After much success in the private sector, he devoted himself to public service. He was a relentless and unremitting fighter for public health causes such as tobacco control and gun violence prevention. Thanks to Frank Lautenberg we fly smoke-free on airplanes and have chemical-free environments in many areas. I was proud to count Frank as a good friend and mentor. My heart goes out to his wife Bonnie and his entire family.”
