Blumenthal Statement on Passing of Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

[HARTFORD, CT] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) issued the following statement on the passing of former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid:

“Harry Reid was short on small talk and soft of voice, but he was tall and strong on values and vision. His penetrating insight, powerful will, and fierce work ethic made him a mentor and role model for so many of us. What moved us most— and what made him a great leader— was the loyalty and affection he inspired. His advice to me in my first tough vote was “follow your conscience.” He repeated it and lived by it as a champion of working Americans who may have modest means, work hard, and simply want a fair chance. He lived the American dream, and fought for all who sought it.”
