(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement after the Senate voted 72-22 to pass the flood insurance bill. The bill would halt flood insurance premium increases that took effect following passage of the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012.
“I’m proud Congress voted to halt huge flood insurance hikes catastrophic to homeowners and local economies,”Blumenthal said. “The flood insurance bill will help prevent more than 18,000 homeowners in Connecticut and millions of others across the country from becoming victims of pernicious premium increases. I look forward to the President signing this bill into law.”
