Blumenthal Statement on Passage of a Continuing Resolution to Keep the Government Open

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement today after the Senate voted to approve a House-passed Continuing Resolution to fund the government for 45 days:

“This bipartisan stopgap spending bill averts a catastrophic crisis resulting from a government shutdown. It is very much a product of bipartisan Senate cooperation to prevent the deep and devastating human consequences that would have reached every corner of Connecticut and the country. The compelling lesson here – hopefully taken to heart by every House Republican – is that Americans are best served by bipartisan cooperation and not radical political hostage-taking.”

“I will redouble my fight to assure that aid to Ukraine is not interrupted. I’ll continue to help lead in keeping our commitment to the brave, determined Ukrainian people as they defend against Putin’s murderous invasion. This imperative – supporting Ukraine’s fight – is an investment in our own national security.”
