Blumenthal Statement on Navy Awarding Contract to Sikorsky for Up to 18 CH-53K Helicopters

[HARTFORD, CT] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement after the U.S. Navy announced that Sikorsky had been awarded a $878.7 million contract to build nine CH-53K helicopters, with an option for to buy nine more for $852.5 million:

“This significant contract is a vote of confidence in the Connecticut workers who build the finest heavy-lift helicopter on the planet. These additional nine helicopters, and an option for nine more, ensures that the Stratford production line will keep busy for years to come, proving high-skilled and good-paying jobs across our state. As I have stressed to military leaders – the CH-53K is a vital tool to equip our service members with the most advanced technology available. I am committed to fighting for additional funding to building additional CH-53Ks in the years ahead.”
