(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) released the following statement on the merger of Lorillard and Reynolds American tobacco companies. Reynolds American bought Lorillard for $27.4 billion.
“This merger is bad for both economic and physical health – vastly expanding the power of deadly and dangerous products. The goal of expanding the marketing and promotion of e-cigarettes, particularly to children, poses a direct threat to public health and safety.”
