Blumenthal Statement on Judicial Ruling Against DACA

[WASHINGTON, DC] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released the following statement after a federal judge in Texas ruled against the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and ordered the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to close the program to new applicants:

“This deeply destructive decision puts the fate of hundreds of thousands of Dreamers in jeopardy. Unless Congress acts with a legislative remedy, their lives are at risk of being uprooted, and their futures upended. And America will lose their talent, skills, and service. Dreamers go to our schools, serve in our armed forces, and support our communities. They deserve permanent status in our country and a clear pathway to officially becoming American citizens. Congress must act now.”
