[WASHINGTON, DC] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement after the Senate approved an interim COVID-19 emergency relief package:
“This step is a stopgap but a vitally important one. It refills funding for small business relief programs and makes key changes to assure that money goes to smaller businesses with less access, including minority-owned and businesses working with community lenders. We already know that more funding and even more reforms will be required in the next major measure, and I’ll be fighting to expand access as broadly as possible. We need a dramatic influx of relief for states and local governments, and that will be a top priority in the next relief bill.”
“Democrats demanded and secured critically needed funding for hospitals on the frontlines of this health crisis and testing. Connecticut is stepping up to increase testing under Governor Lamont’s leadership. Without leadership from the administration, there is no national strategy and still abjectly inadequate testing nationwide.”
