(Washington, DC) – Senator Richard Blumenthal today released the following statement after attending a hearing in the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee on securing the pharmaceutical supply chain:
“Prevalent drug shortages continue to plague our health care system – causing burgeoning costs and gravely endangering patient care. To combat this epidemic and ensure that prescription drugs on the market are safe and effective, we must crack down on grey market actors that flood the markets with unlicensed and unapproved drugs. This morning’s hearing was another step in the fight to ensure a safe, readily available supply of critical and life-saving prescription medications to patients in Connecticut and across the country, and I look forward to working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle as we continue this vital work.”
