Blumenthal Statement on FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe

[WASHINGTON, DC] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement after FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe announced that he would be stepping down:

“As President Trump escalates his contemptible assault on law enforcement, Congress and the American people deserve a full explanation from FBI Director Wray regarding the circumstances of Deputy Director McCabe’s departure. FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is a professional, dedicated law enforcement officer whose lifetime of experience and expertise will be sorely missed at the Bureau. Despite this record, Deputy Director McCabe was subject to baseless political attacks levied by President Trump’s sycophantic supporters in an effort to discredit the work of the FBI and the integrity of the Russia investigation. Deputy Director McCabe is owed thanks for his decades of public service, not denigration from the President for political gain.”
