[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, released the following statement in response to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Inspector General’s second report on the Boeing 737 MAX development and certification:
“This second report adds evidence—and an exclamation point—to findings of Boeing’s shameful concealment and the FAA’s negligence. I’m encouraged that this report recommends reforms I advocated for to fix the FAA’s broken oversight, including an end to the FAA delegating critical decisions to manufacturers, but these fixes must happen now—not in five years. I demanded this investigation and will continue to fight for accountability for the lives lost and to ensure our traveling public is protected.”
