Blumenthal Statement on DeVos Proposal to Gut Campus Sexual Assault Protections

[Washington, DC] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement today in response to proposed Title X enforcement guidance from Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos that would gut campus sexual assault protections.

“The Trump Administration’s destructive proposal to gut existing Title IX enforcement guidance seems designed to protect universities from responsibility, rather than students from sexual assault.  We should be holding schools accountable for their policies to ensure a safe campus for everyone—not letting them off the hook. Our students and survivors deserve better, and I will work with my colleagues to prevent its finalization,” Blumenthal said.
