(Hartford, CT) – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement regarding the twenty eighth anniversary of the L’Ambiance Plaza construction site tragedy:
“The L’Ambiance tragedy serves as a reminder of the unconscionable and dangerous practices that are permitted at some work places, and of the need to continue the fight for better safety standards. This disaster is a demonstration of what occurs when the government fails to act in setting standards to stop death and injury, thus endangering the lives of hardworking Americans. Twenty eight years later, we remember the victims of this tragedy, and are reminded of the need to continue to fight for adequate safety standards in these work places. I continue to feel the grief and horror of that tragic day and a redoubled dedication to worker safety."
