Blumenthal Staffer Awarded Moakley Award For Exemplary Public Service

(Boston, MA) – Today, one of Senator Richard Blumenthal’s (D-CT) Constituent Liaisons, Grady Keefe, won this year’s Congressman John Joseph Moakley Award for Exemplary Public Service. Presented annually during Public Service Recognition Week, this award recognizes the outstanding accomplishments and achievements of a staff member of the New England Congressional delegation in the name of longtime Massachusetts Congressman Joe Moakley.

“Grady Keefe works tirelessly, tenaciously, and successfully for the people of Connecticut,” said Blumenthal. “His passion and compassion are contagious – inspiring our entire staff. The award is a supremely well-deserved recognition and tribute to his working and fighting every day for people who seek our help.”

Grady Keefe currently serves as a Constituent Liaison in the office of Senator Richard Blumenthal, working on health care, social services and LGBT issues. He was one of Blumenthal’s first hires in the United States Senate. As a Constituent Liaison, Keefe has assisted on a number of cases for Connecticut constituents, most notably helping to secure drugs that are in shortage for cancer patients, and helping to appeal fraudulent insurance coverage denials. Before joining Senator Blumenthal, Keefe held the distinction of being the youngest elected official in Connecticut state history, serving as a member of the Branford Representative Town Meeting at the age of 18, while completing his senior year of high school. Keefe served as a member of the Branford Ways and Means Committee, and helped to oversee the town budget while also championing education and youth causes in town. In 2007, Keefe’s accomplishments were featured in the New York Times.
