(Washington, D.C.)—Today, during a Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee hearing, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal pressed VA Secretary David Shulkin for a status update on capital improvements for the West Haven VA.
“It was built in the 1950s, it is out of date structurally, it needs more than just rehabilitation—it needs rebuilding. I wonder where it stands on the list of priorities and whether the President’s budget is sufficient to cover the capital improvement there and elsewhere,” said Senator Blumenthal of the West Haven VA.
Secretary Shulkin responded that he has requested more funds to go towards modernizing the VA and will support fixing West Haven VA and other facilities.
