Blumenthal Praises EB Contract to Repair & Overhaul USS Hartford

[HARTFORD, CT] – U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today praised the announcement by the Navy that Electric Boat has been awarded $64.0 million to begin work on the repair and overhaul of the USS HARTFORD, a Los Angeles-class submarine commissioned in 1994.

“This Smart Start award highlights the Navy’s confidence in Connecticut’s skilled workers to do mission critical maintenance on these national assets. I am especially proud to have these exceptional men and women maintain a boat named after our state’s capital city. This award will help sustain the shipbuilding workforce in Groton as the Navy transitions from the Virginia class to the Columbia class.”
