Blumenthal on Delayed Senate Healthcare Vote: No Time for Complacency

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the statement below after Republican leadership – facing increasing chaos and dissent among their own caucus – delayed voting on their healthcare proposal until after the upcoming Fourth of July recess. After the announcement, Blumenthal joined patient advocates at a rally outside the Capitol where he pledged to continue fighting the legislation. Photos of the rally on the Capitol lawn are available here.

“The delayed vote is a powerful testament to millions of Americans who stood up and spoke out against this bill’s cruel and costly inhumanity,” Blumenthal said. “Thanks to the faces and voices of ordinary Americans, this wealthcare proposal has been stopped – for now. We have won a reprieve more than a victory – and there is no time for complacency. This titanic fight for the American healthcare system is far from over.”
