Blumenthal, Murphy, Courtney Announce $500,000 Federal Grant to Grow Quiet Corner Technology and Manufacturing Businesses

(Hartford, CT) – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Congressman Joe Courtney (D-2) announced today a $500,000 grant through the U.S. Economic Development Administration to establish a Quiet Corner Innovation Cluster. The QCIC would help small and medium sized technology and manufacturing businesses in the Quiet Corner access the research and business expertise at the new UConn Tech Park and UConn’s Office of Technology Commercialization to help strengthen and expand their businesses and grow jobs. The competitive grant was among 25 awarded today nationwide to advance innovation and build capacity of existing businesses.

This competitive award is a recognition of the powerful potential of technology and manufacturing businesses in the Quiet Corner—potential that will be unlocked and unleashed with expertise from the new UConn Tech Park and Office of Technology Commercialization. These businesses are leaders in their field and engines of their local economy, and this new initiative will ensure that they continue to grow, add jobs, and maximize their potential for years to come,” Blumenthal, Murphy and Courtney said.
