(Washington, DC) – Tomorrow, U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), and the Connecticut State Society, will host the first annual “Discover Connecticut” reception, which will showcase 25 small-batch food producers, restaurants, breweries, tourist attractions, and other businesses based in Connecticut. The reception is expected to attract more than 300 guests, including senators, staffers, and current and former Connecticut residents.
“I’m proud to provide this opportunity for my colleagues and others to discover or rediscover some of the best products and businesses in Connecticut,” Blumenthal said. “From craft brewers and organic produce to the most advanced defense technology in the world, Connecticut products and businesses are second to none, and I am confident tomorrow’s event will help expand relationships and strengthen opportunities for local companies. I look forward to welcoming guests to ‘Discover Connecticut,’ and I hope they leave the reception with a better understanding of why I am so proud to represent this great state.”
“We’re lucky to have so many impressive Connecticut businesses in Washington for our ‘Discover CT’ reception,” Murphy said. “This event will be a great opportunity for nearly 30 businesses from across the state to make connections with elected officials and business leaders from across the country. We’re a small but mighty state, and I’m looking forward to showcasing all Connecticut has to offer.”
“Discover Connecticut” will become part of the taste-of-the-state tradition in the Senate were delegations or senior senators host a large annual reception showcasing businesses that are locally-owned, headquartered, or representative of their state in some other way.
