Blumenthal Meets With Democratic Members of the Texas State Legislature to Discuss Voting Rights

This afternoon, Blumenthal will chair the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution hearing titled “Restoring the Voting Rights Act after Brnovich and Shelby County”

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) met with Democratic Members of the Texas State Legislature to discuss voting rights. 

“I know that you are really on the front lines and really in the trenches, standing strong against this assault on our democracy,” said Blumenthal to the Texas lawmakers. “We are all Texans in this fight.”

“I think we owe you a big debt for standing strong as you are, for showing the fight that you do, for resisting these restrictions that would be an assault on democracy – it’s taking place across the country,” Blumenthal continued.

Blumenthal met with the Texas lawmakers ahead of the hearing on voting rights he is chairing this afternoon in the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution titled “Restoring the Voting Rights Act after Brnovich and Shelby County.”
