Blumenthal Issues Statement on Passing Of John Groppo

(Hartford, CT) – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement on the passing of former Winsted mayor and House Majority Leader John Groppo:

"John Groppo gave unceasingly and unstintingly to his community and country-- a model of public service in the Marine Corps, state legislature, and Mayor's office. He was a generous gracious friend in the General Assembly, where I served with him, but also a strong, determined leader who always put the people of Connecticut first. He had a huge heart, and loyalty was his middle name.  My heart goes out to his wonderful family."
