Blumenthal Issues Statement On New Haven Line Power Upgrade

(Hartford, CT) – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement today regarding completion of the New Haven rail line power upgrade project:

“I applaud Governor Malloy and the Connecticut Department of Transportation for this wise and substantial investment in the safety and reliability of our commuter rail system—a vital resource as we seek to build our state and regional economy. Unfortunately, the federal government has yet to do the same and meet its responsibility to repair and restore the aging infrastructure and outdated systems that have caused far too many accidents and delays. I will continue to call for the federal dollars and federal scrutiny needed to restore the public trust in our commuter rail system.”
